Animation Types

For some animation types, you can also choose how the animation behaves in the Easing combobox:

  • Smooth results in a smooth transition
  • Linear results in a constant speed in the movement
  • Bounce will give the object a few bounces towards the end point
  • Elastic will give a rubberband movement
  • Back will back up the object a little before the motion starts

Move

Edit curveA move animation creates a movement of the selected object. The start position of the object is set by clicking Edit Curve and then dragging the object that is faded by grabbing its green control point. To change the shape of the curve, grab the control point in the middle of the curve.

In the image to the right, In Animation is chosen and the object will move in from left to right along the green line.

Dissolve

A dissolve animation is used to fade an object in or out. Depending on the animation state, you choose From or To Alpha and the object will fade from or to it. This animation type depends on the opacity of the object that you set at the style settings panel.

Zoom

This animation type creates a zooming movement of the object. Depending on the animation state, the object will go from or to a start or an end position. This size is adjusted with the sliders at From/To Width and From/To Height.

Rotate

Will give a rotation to the object. Depending on the animation state, the start or end rotation and the direction of the rotation can be adjusted by changing the Rotation Offset.

Blur

This animation type will create a transition from an out-of-focus version of the object to the original or the other way around, depending on the animation state. The amount of blur is adjustable by sliding the Blur Amount to the left or right.

Glow

This will animate a glow, similar to that found in the filter effects. The glow can be adjusted through the panel.

Adjust Color

The adjust colour animation can be used to create interesting effects, by for example adjusting the hue and saturation over time.

Wipe

A wipe animation sweeps over the object, and shows more or less of the object depending on the animation state. The animation can move from left, right, up or down by changing the value in the Direction combobox.
