Loading Scene

Introduction

The Loading Scene is shown while the visitor's browser is loading your project. As soon as the project is fully loaded, the first regular scene in the project is shown.

It is desirable for the loading scene to be displayed to the visitor as quickly as possible and therefore it comes with a few limitations:

  • Objects on the loading scene cannot have actions applied to them.
  • Buttons, Video, Audio and Widgets cannot be added to the loading scene.
  • Animation cannot be added to objects on the loading scene.

Loading Symbol

A Loading Scene can contain a Loading Symbol which will show the loading progress of your project. To add a Loading Symbol to your project, select the loading scene and then click Select in the settings panel to the right. To change the appearance of the loading symbol, click on it and make changes in the settings panel labeled Loading Symbol Settings.

The Loading Symbol is always placed on top of all other objects in the loading scene.

Load Scenes Sequentially

The Load Scenes Sequentially checkbox gives more control of the loading process.

  1. When the checkbox is selected, the scenes will be loaded one by one. When the first scene is loaded, the visitor will be redirected from the loading scene to the first scene. The remaining scenes and objects are loaded in the background. This makes for a quicker initial loading process, but could potentially slow down animations and videos on the first scene.
  2. When the checkbox is not selected, the visitor will remain on the loading scene until all scenes and all objects have been loaded. The loading process could be a bit longer, but the appearance of the project and visitor experience will be smoother.

What option to choose depends on the nature of your project. Try both options to discover what suits your projects best.

Loading Scene Image Quality

To be able to display the loading scene to the visitor as quickly as possible, its content is automatically saved as a compressed image. Change the quality of the image by dragging the slider. A higher value means higher image quality, but also a longer loading time. Click Calculate to determine the size of the loading scene. The quality required depends on the complexity of the loading scene, so try different values until the image looks satisfactory.

Background Settings

The loading scene has the same settings as the background scene. A couple of features are available to make it easier to create a loading scene that looks like the background or the first scene. The button Copy from Background Scene will copy the background settings from the background scene, while the button Take snapshot will create a snapshot image of the project's first scene and set it as the background image.
